What is CBD
CBD is a short term for cannabidiol. It is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that is derived from cannabis plants. Cannabis can be derived from both marijuana and hemp, but CBD is most commonly derived from hemp because of its high CBD level and low THC. CBD is not intoxicating and won't get you high. What Is Cold-Pressed Extraction?
Cold pressing is the process of crushing plant matter (seeds, leaves, flowers, and stems) in order to extract oil that can be used alone or together with other ingredients. The typical cold press machine or system works by placing the raw material in a basin or cylindrical on top of a rotating screw mechanism. The screw rotates and crushes plant matter, forcing it through a press and extracting oil. As the screw forces the oil through the cylinder, it collects the oil through the small holes at the bottom. Cold pressing, as the name suggests, is performed at low temperatures. Although there is some heat from friction during the pressing process, it is not sufficient to destroy or deplete desired compounds and terpenes. The heat of cold pressing botanicals results in a lower amount of oil than other methods. This allows the material to be softer and easier to crush.
Why Do You Use Cold-Pressed Extraction?
The extraction method has a major impact on how the oil tastes and reacts to your body. Although heat-based extraction can yield a higher amount of CBD oil but can cause a loss of flavour and nutritional value, it can still be beneficial.
